Emma was called to the Bar in 2014 after the successful completion of the Bar Professional Training Course which she received a very competent classification following her reading law at University. 

Emma joined chambers in 2018 under the supervision of Suzanne Hodgkiss. During pupillage, Emma was able gain experience in a number of different areas including complex matters such as those involving non-accidental injuries, sexual abuse and in relation to financial remedy cases, cases involving a number of assets such as international properties. 

Prior to joining chambers, Emma acted as a county court advocate for the country’s leading firm of solicitor’s agents. Her role as an advocate provided her with ample experience in a number of hearings in different areas of law and allowed her to build upon her advocacy skills.

Practice

Emma accepts instructions in all aspects of family matters. Since joining chambers, Emma’s practice has expanded vastly. In respect of private children cases, she is regularly instructed on: complex and lengthy fact-finding hearings, multi-day final hearings, cases involving sexual abuse against the other parent and/or the children, cases involving parental alienation, relocation matters and cases where a rule 16.4 Guardian is appointed with Emma having represented the child(ren). 

In financial cases, Emma is frequently instructed in matrimonial proceedings dealing with pensions, properties including international properties, businesses and cases involving intervenors. Emma is also conversant in section 37 applications under the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973. Emma has knowledge and experience in TOLATA disputes. She also accepts instructions on applications pursuant to Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989. 

Emma also accepts instructs on domestic abuse matters such as non-molestation orders and occupation orders.

Emma is described by both professional and lay clients as approachable yet thorough in her approach in court.  Emma always acts robustly to secure the best outcome for her client.

Personal

Outside of chambers, Emma is an avid baker and is keen to raise money for good causes.
