Steven accepts instructions in all areas of Family and Civil law.

Steven has extensive experience in all areas of family law including public, private, injunction and financial remedy proceedings.

Family (Public)

Steven regularly represents local authorities, parents and grandparents at all stages of proceedings including contested removal hearings, multi-day final hearings and case management hearings.

Steven has also represented local authorities in respect of deprivation of liberty orders.

Steven frequently represents vulnerable parents with low cognitive functioning, severe mental health difficulties and substance misuse issues.

Steven also has experience in representing parties in the Family Drug and Alcohol Court.

Steven has extensive experience in care proceedings having worked as a child protection paralegal at a local authority prior to joining the Bar.

Family (Private)

Steven is regularly instructed at all stages of proceedings including multi-day fact-finding hearings, final hearings and directions hearings.

Steven regularly represents parents involving issues such as sexual abuse and rape, domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health, contact disputes and parental alienation.

Injunction proceedings

Steven is regularly instructed to represent parties in respect of Family Law Act proceedings including non-molestation orders and occupation orders.

Finance

Steven is instructed to represent parties in financial remedy proceedings.

Civil

Steven is instructed to represent claimants and defendants in small-claims hearings involving credit hire, road traffic accidents and consumer credit.

Prior to joining Halcyon, Steven gained experience as a child protection paralegal, corporate paralegal and volunteer at Support Through Court.

Outside of work, Steven enjoys playing sport and travelling.
