Oliver was called to the bar in 2021 and completed his pupillage with the Government Legal Department before moving to the self-employed bar.

Property Law

Oliver has experience in property law, both residential and non-residential. He has undertaken a wide range of work for landlords and tenants in possession proceedings including claims based on mortgages, rent arrears, and trespass. He also has experience with wider disputes on property rights including easements, trusts, and land registration.

He also accepts instructions in housing disrepair claims under both English and Welsh legislation. Oliver is experienced with allocation hearings, making and resisting interim applications, and final hearings on the small claims and fast track.

Employment

Oliver’s has experience acting for both Claimants and Respondents in the Employment Tribunal and when undertaking advice and drafting. He accepts instructions for discrete hearings and drafting or for ongoing matters in which parties require support throughout the life of a claim.

He accepts instructions across the field of employment law including:

Immigration

Oliver has a growing immigration practice with experience in the First Tier and Upper Tribunal as well as with civil penalty notice appeals in the County Court.

He accepts instructions at any stage of the immigration process, including prior to the commencement of legal proceedings. Oliver’s areas of experience include:

  • Discrimination and human rights law
  • Modern slavery (civil)
  • Leave to enter and to remain in the United Kingdom
  • Asylum, including pre-decision asylum support
  • Judicial review

General Civil Law

Finally, Oliver’s civil practice includes extensive experience in personal injury claims, negligence, and contract claims. Oliver accepts instructions in a variety of civil claims which include:

  • Road traffic accidents, including credit hire
  • Employers and public liability
  • Breach of contract
  • Debt recovery
