Immigration & Public Law
Sonya regularly undertakes complex immigration cases, including asylum and human rights appeals, immigration bail and deportation in both the First Tier Tribunal and the Upper Tribunal.
Sonya has experience in Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking, having worked previously as a Litigation Caseworker at the Home Office. Sonya has successfully handled challenges to National Referral Mechanism decisions and cases involving the Nationality and Borders Act 2022 and Public Order Disqualification.
Civil
Sonya conducts a range of civil work, confidently managing trials, allocation hearings, and procedural applications. Since her second six and as a tenant, she has taken on small claims track trials with professionalism and determination.
Family
Sonya regularly appears in family proceedings including private children cases and non-molestation matters. She has conducted contested hearings, including committal proceedings relating to breaches of non-molestation orders and undertakings.
Housing
Sonya has experience in housing law, representing clients in matters concerning homelessness, social welfare, and disrepair. She gained early practical experience volunteering at Hackney Community Law Centre and her University’s Legal Advice Clinic, assisting with legal advice clinics for vulnerable clients.

Sonya sits on the Immigration Committee of Birmingham Law Society she is also a committee member of the Society of Asian Lawyers (SAL).
Sonya brings extensive voluntary experience both in the UK and abroad. She has worked with marginalised women in Kenya on sexual health rights. In the UK she has supported children in care locally, and contributed to Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) initiatives within local government.
Outside her legal practice, Sonya enjoys taekwondo, distance walking, and crocheting.
